Q: What is cellulite?

A: Cellulite is defined as a localized metabolic disorder of subcutaneous tissue caused by damage due to poor circulation and drainage that result in an accumulation of fat cells. This fat cell accumulation can lead to an alteration in body shape and visual skin appearance. Cellulite affects up to 80% of all adult women and some men. Cellulite is most commonly found on the lower limbs, abdomen and pelvic region leaving unsightly dimpled. Even though cellulite does not represent a health threat, cellulite can be a factor in negative body image resulting in self-conscious feelings. Causes of cellulite are still not fully understood but research indicates hormonal influence, genetic/ethnic factors, weight gain, as well as depression or stress can all have an impact on cellulite formation.

Q: How does I-lipo Ultra help with cellulite reduction?

A: The vacuum massage hand-piece of the ULTRA system captures tissue, drawing it into the aperture of the hand-piece and positioning it for optimal laser penetration. Knuckled rollers ensure that movement across the tissue to manipulation of the tissue to encourage optimum circulatory and lymphatic flow.

When tissue is captured within the hand-piece aperture and a vacuum is engaged, low level infra-red laser light from and array of laser diodes illuminates the tissue causing temporary permeability of the fat cells, allowing fluid to pass out of the cell walls. Then heat produced by the laser heats the fatty tissue beneath the skin to reduce the viscosity of the lipids to help release fluid from the cells. This can also stimulate production of new collagen thereby improving the structure and appearance of the skin.

Q: What should I expect during my ULTRA treatment?

A: Your aesthetician will apply the Ultra hand piece to the targeted region of your skin. The red laser and infra-red laser will be activated. The vacuum massage is applied and the skin is lifted enabling deep penetration of the laser light, stimulation of the lymphatic system, and mobilization/ breakdown of fatty tissue feeling much like the sensation of a vigorous massage.

Q: How many ULTRA treatments do I need?

A: A course of 8 treatments is recommended for optimal cellulite reduction results. These treatments are ideally scheduled two per week.

Q: Are ULTRA treatments painful?

A: The sensation felt during the breakdown of fatty tissue feeling much like the sensation of a vigorous massage. Some people will enjoy the sensation and agree that the overall experience is relaxing.

Q: Is there any downtime after ULTRA treatments at AH Laser Aesthetics?

A: Following treatment you can resume all routine activities immediately. You may notice a slight temporary redness which will disappear in less than 24 hours. Ultra is non-invasive and proven to be safe and painless with no downtime.
